Adding Bing UET Tag for Conversion Tracking

Bing Advertising’s UET (Universal Event Tracking) tag helps track conversions, remarket visitors, and optimize performance in your Bing Ads campaigns. With GTM Assistant, integrating the UET tag into your Shopify store becomes quick and automated.

Follow these steps to set up the Bing UET tag:

Step 1: Create or Retrieve Your UET Tag ID​

  1. Go to ads.microsoft.com and sign in to your Bing Advertising account.
  2. From the left-hand menu, navigate to Conversions > UET tags.

If you don’t have a UET tag:​

  • Click Create UET tag.
  • Enter a name for your tag and select Install the tag yourself.
  • Click Save to generate your UET tag.

If you already have a UET tag:​

  • Locate your existing tag from the list.
  • Click on the tag name to view details.
  • Copy the UET Tag ID from the tag details page.

Step 2: Add UET Tag ID in GTM Assistant​

  1. Open your GTM Assistant app in the Shopify dashboard.
  2. Navigate to the Services or Tag Setup section.
  3. Find the Bing UET Tag integration.
  4. Paste your UET Tag ID into the provided field.
  5. Click Connect to install the tag.

GTM Assistant will automatically create and configure the required tag in your GTM container to track key events like PageView and Purchase.

Step 3: Verify UET Tag Installation​

Once the UET tag is installed:

  • Visit your store and perform test actions like viewing a product or completing a purchase.
  • Return to your Bing Ads account and go to UET Tag Helper or the UET Tags dashboard to verify data is being received.

Tip: Use the UET Tag Helper Chrome Extension to test if your tag is firing correctly on-site.
