Adding Microsoft Clarity for User Behavior Tracking

Microsoft Clarity is a free analytics tool that helps you understand how users are interacting with your Shopify store by recording sessions, tracking clicks, and providing heatmaps. With GTM Assistant, you can seamlessly integrate Clarity to gain deeper insights into user behavior and optimize your store's performance.

Here’s how to set up Microsoft Clarity using GTM Assistant:


Step 1: Create a Clarity Project

To get started, create a new Clarity project:

  1. Navigate to clarity.microsoft.com and sign in using your Microsoft account.
  2. Click on New Project.
  3. Enter your Project Name and Website URL.
  4. Select the appropriate Category for your website.
  5. Click on Add New Project to finalize the setup.

Step 2: Retrieve Your Project ID

Once your project is created:

  1. Go to the Settings tab in your Clarity dashboard.
  2. Under the Overview section, locate your unique Project ID.
  3. Copy the Project ID for use in the next step.

Step 3: Integrate Clarity with GTM Assistant

  1. Open your GTM Assistant app within the Shopify dashboard.
  2. Paste the copied Project ID into the Microsoft Clarity field provided.
  3. Click on Connect to complete the integration.

GTM Assistant will handle the rest by adding the appropriate tracking script via Google Tag Manager.


What’s Next?

Once integrated, Microsoft Clarity will begin capturing session data, click behavior, and heatmaps. You can use this data to make informed design decisions, identify user friction points, and improve your store’s user experience.
